About
I’m a PhD candidate at the American University School of Communication. Right now, I’m actively writing my dissertation and additionally with an analysis of media discourses around generative AI, a study on the evolution of ethics in computing in the 90’s, and a study on how non-voters represent themselves online. I also taught the introductory Understanding Media class for AU undergrads in fall 2025.
Before academia, I spent nearly two decades in industry; law for seven years and, more recently, in marketing and communications as a ghostwriter for executives and internal PR functions at organizations in telecom, healthcare, and large-scale philanthropy. In the middle of all that, I also snagged my masters degree in digital media communications from the University of Washington.
In my spare time, I have chaired the community advisory board for Cascade Public Media, and played percussion instruments on Radiohead covers with a fun volunteer orchestra in Seattle. While I work through the slow grind of scholarly publishing and diss writing (not to mention building out this website), I hope to share some lighter thoughts on all things tech and culture, here, soon.
