About

I’m a PhD student at the American University School of Communication where I study political economy of media and media law and policy, among other topics (look for a website with the things academics are supposed to have, soon). Before this, I worked in marketing and communications for almost a decade. And before that, I spent seven years in law (not as a lawyer) and legal technology consulting.

In my past life, I supported C-level execs with needs ranging from blast emails to keynote presentations and ran a monthly webcast for an audience of 1,500 at a telecom giant. I also owned content development for an internal corporate website at a pretty wild billionaire company, got certified in Change Management, and managed mission-critical internal communications related to the pandemic. You could also say I wrote a lot of emails for a living and you would not be wrong.

In my spare time, I have chaired the community advisory board for Cascade Public Media, and played Radiohead covers with a fun volunteer orchestra in Seattle. I still write the odd non-sequitur blog, and enjoy life with my my family in the DC area.
